Itinerary for the Rainbow Mountain Tour

Bliss out with the beauty of the Rainbow Mountain!

This day, early in the morning, we will pick you up from your Hotel in Cusco. Then, we will drive around 3 hours in private transportation to Quesiuno located at 4,320 (masl) (starting point of the trek). At your arrival to Quesiuno, delight yourself with a savory breakfast.

We will start this beautiful hike at 4200 m climbing right up to 5100 masl near the peaks of the Rainbow Mountain. Lead by your expert guide, along the way you will see the beautiful views of red, yellow and green, the colors of the mountains, the streams, the herds of alpacas and llamas, and the spectacular south side of Ausangate mountain ranges.

This is a photographers dream, capturing the vibrant colors of the earth and sky. On our way we will hike through small traditional Andean villages, and see many of the local people with their colorful and traditional dresses.

After walking around two hours, we will arrive the Mirador spot, from this point we will see the outstanding views of Rainbow Mountains located at 5,100 masl. Here we will have time to explore the area, time to rest, and time to enjoy our packed lunch. We will spend approximately around thirty minutes at the top, which gives you plenty of time to take pictures and soak in the environment. Delight yourself with the stunning colors that are natural formations of minerals that have evolved to the stunning colors we see today, from centuries of formation.

Once finished we will start our decent, returning back down the hiking trail from where we came. Your private transportation will be waiting for you to transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco. Spend a quiet evening at your hotel.

Amazing trip of a lifetime in Peru carefully curated by Auri Peri Travel Oustanding experience with Lizbeth at Auri Peri Travel. It truly was a carefully curated family trip of a lifetime and one that I would highly recommend. We stayed in Belmond hotels throughout Peru and they were amazing. Highly highly recommend staying at the Belmond at the top of Machu Picchu. After hiking 16km to the summit, this hotel was a welcome refuge and allowed us to break up the hike and the tour around Machu Picchu into 2 days. It is a very small hotel so book early. The only part of the trip I would not recommend was the last 3 nights we spent on the "Pure Amazon" boat. It was not worth the lengthy travel to and from and also was not a good financial value. There was nothing much to see. The boat is beautiful and we met another family that made the time onboard fun but other than that not something I would recommend.
